Improveasy believes it is important to protect your Personal Data (as defined in the Data Protection Act 1998) and we are committed to giving you a personalised service that meets your needs in a way that also protects your privacy. This policy explains how we may collect Personal Data about you. It also explains some of the security measures we take to protect your Personal Data, and tells you certain things we will do and not do. You should read this policy in conjunction with the Website Terms.
When we first obtain Personal Data from you, or when you take a new service or product from us, we will give you the opportunity to tell us if you do or do not want to receive information from us about other services or products (as applicable). You can normally do this by ticking a box on an application form or contract. You may change your mind at any time by emailing us at the address below.
The Data Protection Act requires companies and individuals who process and retain information about their customers to tell the customer how the information will be used and to what purposes it will be put. The Act does not restrict itself only to information kept on a computer; it is relevant to any ordered filing system. This policy describes how Improveasy will process personal data relating to customers. We will not use your personal data in any other way without first informing you.
Collection of data.
We will only collect Personal Data about you from the online form you complete, in which case this may include your contact details, date of birth, how you will pay for the product or service and your bank details.
From you when you contact us with an enquiry or in response to a communication from us, in which case, this may tell us something about how you use our services.
Using Your Personal Information
Personal Data about our customers is an important part of our business and we shall only use your Personal Data for the following purposes and shall not keep such Personal Data longer than is necessary to fulfil these purposes:
To help us to identify you when you contact us.
To help us to identify accounts, services and/or products which you could have from us or selected partners from time to time. We may do this by automatic means using a scoring system, which uses the Personal Data you have provided and/or any information we hold about you and Personal Data from third party agencies (including credit reference agencies).
To help us to administer and to contact you about improved administration of any accounts, services and products we have provided before, do provide now or will or may provide in the future.
To allow us to carry out marketing analysis and customer profiling (including with transactional information), conduct research, including creating statistical and testing information.
To help to prevent and detect fraud or loss.
To allow us to contact you in any way (including mail, email, telephone, visit, text or multimedia messages) about products and services offered by us and selected partners unless you have previously asked us not to do so.
We may monitor and record communications with you (including phone conversations and emails) for quality assurance and compliance.
We may check your details with fraud prevention agencies. If you provide false or inaccurate information and we suspect fraud, we will record this.
We may allow other people and organisations to use Personal Data we hold about you in the following circumstances:
If we, or substantially all of our assets, are acquired or are in the process of being acquired by a third party, in which case Personal Data held by us, about our customers, will be one of the transferred assets.
If we have been legitimately asked to provide information for legal or regulatory purposes or as part of legal proceedings or prospective legal proceedings.
In connection with any transaction which we enter into with you:
We, and other companies in our group, may carry out credit and fraud prevention checks with one or more licensed credit reference and fraud prevention agencies. We and they may keep a record of the search. Information held about you by these agencies may be linked to records relating to other people living at the same address with whom you are financially linked. These records will also be taken into account in credit and fraud prevention checks. Information from your application and payment details of your account will be recorded with one or more of these agencies and may be shared with other organisations to help make credit and insurance decisions about you and members of your household with whom you are financially linked and for debt collection and fraud prevention. This includes those who have moved house and who have missed payments.
If you provide false or inaccurate information to us and we suspect fraud, we will record this and may share it with other people and organisations. We, and other credit and insurance organisations, may also use technology to detect and prevent fraud.

We have strict security measures to protect Personal Data.
We work to protect the security of your information during transmission by using Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) software, which encrypts information you input.
We maintain physical, electronic and procedural safeguards in connection with the collection, storage and disclosure of personally identifiable customer information. Our security procedures mean that we may occasionally request proof of identity before we disclose personal information to you.
It is important for you to protect against unauthorised access to your password and to your computer. Be sure to sign off when you finish using a shared computer.
If you communicate with us using the internet, we may occasionally email you about our services and products. When you first give us Personal Data through the Website, we will normally give you the opportunity to say whether you would prefer us not to contact you by email. You can also always send us an email (at the address set out below) at any time if you change your mind.
Please remember that communications over the internet, such as emails and webmails (messages sent through a website), are not secure unless they have been encrypted. Your communications may go through a number of countries before they are delivered – this is the nature of the internet. We cannot accept responsibility for any unauthorised access or loss of Personal Data that is beyond our control.
The Website may include third-party advertising and links to other websites. We do not provide any personally identifiable customer Personal Data to these advertisers or third-party websites.
We exclude all liability for loss that you may incur when using these third party websites.
We will collect information which you provide to us when you enquire about or apply for finance, which includes information gained from either or both stages of the Improveasy application form. This may include certain sensitive personal data within the meaning of the Data Protection Act 1998, for example, information about your health or ethnic origin.
We will use your personal data to:
We may keep your information for several years. You can ask for the information not to be used to offer you other products. We have a duty to keep the personal information which we hold about you up to date and accurate and secure from misuse or accidental loss or damage.
All lending companies have their own individual privacy policies and customers should refer to these in respect of how they will use personal data.
Credit Reference Agencies
(The agencies do not keep ‘’blacklists’’ nor do they give any opinion about whether or not credit should be granted.) We may use one or more of these agencies. Information about which credit reference agency was used will be made freely available. The main credit reference agencies are:

Experian Limited, Consumer Help Service, PO Box 8000, Nottingham, NG1 5GX
Equifax Plc, Credit File Advice Service, PO Box 1140, Bradford, BD1 5US
Credit reference agencies keep a wide range of information. This includes information from the electoral roll (sometimes known as the voters roll) and records of most county court judgments and bankruptcies. They also retain information relating to previous and existing credit and a record of searches made against the file. The lenders share information through the agencies providing a history of how punctually payments are being made or have been made. Loan information is usually held on file for 6 years. Details of the voters roll may be held for much longer. Information about credit searches is kept for up to two years.
NOTE – CREDIT REFERENCE SEARCHES AND FINANCIAL LINKS
Please note that searches at credit reference agencies will be shown in any other searches which are made in connection with applications made by you and/or other members of your household. The disclosure of multiple searches may adversely affect your credit profile and may make credit harder for you to obtain.
Information held about you by a credit reference agency may already be linked to records relating to another person, for example your spouse, and for the purpose of your loan application you will be treated as financially linked. Your loan application will be assessed with reference to all linked records.
If you have confirmed you are linked financially with another person, you are declaring that you are entitled to (a) disclose information about that person and/or anyone else referred to by you and (b) that you authorise us and any lender involved in the application to search, link and/or record information at credit reference agencies about you and /or anyone else referred to by you.
Reports from CIFAS relating to fraud and fraud avoidance are also available to most lenders – these contain information indicating that fraud, or attempted fraud, has been notified by a lender. The information might not directly relate to you, it might relate to someone who has tried to impersonate you. Data available to members of CIFAS, may also be used to help make decisions on motor, household, credit, life and other insurance proposals for you and members of your household.
CML Repossession Register
The Council of Mortgage Lenders, Repossession Register is available through the main credit reference agencies. If you have had a property repossessed or have given it up voluntarily this will show on the register.
A file may also show a “gone away” marker indicating that a member of the “Gone Away Information Network” has reported that they cannot trace a customer who is in arrears with payments. Alternatively, the marker may indicate a new address which the “gone away” has been traced to.
Files in this register contain detailed information on applications made and loans given. It is aimed at tracing fraudsters who use different combinations of information to obtain credit dishonestly. It checks and counter checks information given on application forms. If we use any of the above agencies they will be able to confirm their contact addresses. CIFAS information is intended to warn lenders and act as a protection for innocent customers.
Access to your data
You are able to see what information we hold about you and where it was obtained from. You can ask us for a copy at anytime by writing to us. We will reply within 40 days from receipt of your request. To obtain a copy of the personal data we hold on you, please write to the Compliance Officer, Improveasy, Manchester Business Park, 3000 Aviator Way, Manchester M22 5TG enclosing an administration payment of £10.

We aim to keep the Personal Data we hold about you accurate and up to date. If you tell us that we are holding any inaccurate Personal Data about you, we will delete it or correct it promptly. Please email us at [email protected] or write to us at the address above to update your Personal Data.

1.1 The lender will pay the Amount of Credit (as set out in the section headed “Key Financial Information”) into a bank account nominated by You. You confirm that your salary was paid last month, and will be paid on the Payment Date, into the bank account (‘the Account’) identified in your application to Us and in the Bank Details sent to You with these terms. You will ensure that sufficient funds are available in the Account to repay the lender the Total Amount Payable. 1.2 You agree to pay the lender the Total Amount Payable on the Payment Date, and You grant the lender permission to debit that sum from the Account using either a cheque or debit card provided by yourself, or a standing order set up by yourself at the lender’s option. You are responsible for ensuring that any Payments sent to the lender by post reach them in time for the funds to be paid into your account and clear on Your account by the Repayment Date. Please note – there is a possibility that taxes or costs may exist that are not payable by the lender or imposed by the lender. 2.1 You will have a right to cancel this Agreement for 14 days, beginning with the day after this Agreement is signed by the lender. You may exercise this right by giving the lender notice in writing. If You cancel the Agreement after the lender has made the advance, You will still be required to repay the Amount of Credit. If You do not exercise this right to cancel, You will still be able to settle this loan at any time prior to the Payment Date. You can settle this loan by paying the outstanding balance that is due and payable in full less any rebate which may apply under the Consumer Credit Act 1974. 2.2 By signing this Agreement You request the lender to make the advance prior to the expiry of the cancellation period, although You acknowledge that the lender is not under an obligation to do so. 2.3 If You cancel this Agreement: (a) As soon as possible and in any event within 30 calendar days from the date on which You notified the lender of the cancellation, the lender will refund any sum paid by or on behalf of You. (b) You must refund any sum paid by or on behalf of the lender under or in relation to this Agreement. (c) However, the lender can charge You for services actually provided by them in accordance with the terms of this Agreement. This fee will be no more than £35. 3.1 This Agreement is unsecured. 3.2 If the lender does not enforce it’s rights under this Agreement at any time they will not be prevented from doing so later. 3.3 Any notice or demand the lender gives will be assumed to have been properly given if served on You personally, or left or sent by prepaid envelope addressed to You at your current address or last known business or private address. If sent by first class post it will be assumed to have been received by You 48 hours after posting. 3.4 You grant the lender permission to contact your employer named in your Employment Details at anytime as may be reasonably required by them. Furthermore you authorise your employer to disclose such information to them as may be reasonably required. Both before and after the granting of this loan you also authorise to contact you at your place of work to assist them with underwriting the loan application and any other issue relating to repayment of the loan. 3.5 The lender may transfer all or any of it’s rights under this Agreement. 3.6 Improveasy is a trading style of Green Energy Advisors Ltd and are registered at Companies House under number 07807352. Our main business is credit broking finance for home improvement loans regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority with Registration Number 708623. We will gather the information provided by you in order to assist you gain finance for your intended home improvement. 3.7 If You have a complaint, the lender will investigate it and give any redress to which we feel you are entitled. If You are not happy with their final response, You may have a right to have your complaint dealt with under the The Financial Ombudsman Service, Exchange Tower, London, E14 9SR, or telephone 0845 080 1800 or 020 7964 0500. To do so, You would need to notify the Scheme in writing within 6 months of our final response. 3.8 The law of England and Wales is taken by the lender as a basis for the establishment of relations with You prior to the conclusion of the Agreement, and governs the Agreement. The contractual terms and conditions, and the prior information, are in English. We undertake, with your agreement, to communicate with You in English during the duration of this Agreement. This Agreement shall be construed according to the laws of England and Wales whose courts shall be the exclusive courts of jurisdiction. 3.9 The lender may at any time, prior to signing this agreement, withdraw any offer (implied or otherwise) to lend to You and We do not accept any liability for any financial or other loss You may incur as a result of the lender’s decision not to lend to You, or to delay Our decision to lend to You. Furthermore, the lender is under no obligation to give You a reason for Our decision not to lend to You. 3.10 During the process of assessing your application, the lender will verify the debit card details given by you during your application. By eSigning this agreement you are giving the lender your authority to process a transaction on your debit card to up to £1. Please note, this pound is not refundable and transaction is only processed when all other checks have been completed and the lender is preparing to credit the loan to your bank account. 4 Use of Your Personal Information In considering whether to enter into this Agreement, the lender may search your record at credit reference agencies. They will add to their records about you, details of our search and your application and this will be seen by other organisations that make searches. Their search of records at credit reference agencies may be linked to your spouse/partner, or other persons with whom you are linked financially. For the purposes of any application or this Agreement you may be treated as financially linked and you will be assessed with reference to “associated records”. The lender may also add to your record with the credit reference agencies details of your agreement with them, the payments you make under it and any default or failure to keep to its terms. These records will be shared with other organisations and may be used and searched by the lender and them in order to: – Consider applications for credit and credit related services such as insurance for you and any associated person; – Trace debtors, recover debts, prevent or detect money laundering and fraud, and to manage your accounts. It is important that you provide the lender with accurate information. We may check your details with fraud prevention agencies and if you provide false or inaccurate information or we suspect fraud, this information may be recorded. Fraud prevention agency records will be shared with other organisations to help make decisions on credit, motor, household, life and other insurance proposals or claims for you and members of your household. A guide to what we do and how both we and credit reference and fraud prevention agencies will use your information can be found by contacting the lender. The information we collect is used by us to pass to the lender to apply for the funding as you have requested when completing the form at www.improveasy.com/financeapp. The information the lender collects from us and yourself is used manage your account and to make collections; it is also used to contact customers for marketing purposes; it is disclosed by the lender when legally required to do so at the request of government authorities conducting an investigation; the lender also uses it to verify or enforce compliance with the policies governing our website and applicable laws or to protect against misuse or unauthorised use of our website. By ticking the box on the application form you are confirming your agreement to proceed and you are accepting that the lender may each use your information in this way. Please write to us at our address or telephone us if you require details of the credit reference agencies or any other agencies from whom we obtain, and to whom we pass information about you. You have a legal right to these details. You have the right to receive a copy of the information we hold about you if you apply to us in writing. A fee will be payable.
